Farmers Avenue was named after The Jolly Farmers Inn which was in business from 1760 – 1962 and is still recognised with a commemorative plaque. Steeped in history this was the previous home of leading parliamentarian ‘Adrian Parmenter’ who was elected mayor in 1641 and died in 1663.
